AMSAT upgrading member database

The board of AMSAT has approved the creation of a committee to develop a new Member Database System for the organization.

The project is necessitated by our need to create additional member-only services on our AMSAT web site and for the development of our North American fund raising efforts which are scheduled to commence with a National Feasibility Study in 2005. We also have the need for up-to-the-minute information for the Area Coordinators, Presidents Club, expanded office procedures, etc.

Members of the Database Committee include Stephen Diggs W4EPI, Gunther Meisse W8GSM, Barry Baines WD4ASW, Rick Hambly W2GPS, Bob Carpenter W3OTC, Emily Clark W0EEC and Martha Saragovitz.

Meetings started in mid January with the hope of having a system design and software selected in the next three months with full implementation successfully completed in 2005.
