CDXC’s Kenwood Trophy won by G3XTT

Between 1 February and 31 December 2004, members of the 670-strong CDXC (Chiltern DX Club - The UK DX Foundation) were competing for the Kenwood Challenge.

The aim was to work as many DXCC entities as possible on the HF bands and 6m for the prize of a new transceiver. Scores were continuously updated on the club’s website and a close race developed through the course of the year.

In the end, top place went to RadCom ‘HF’ columnist Don Field, G3XTT, no real surprise because Don has been one of the UK’s most successful and consistent DXers for many years.

Don's score of 330 entities was made up of 267 on the HF bands and 63 on 6m. The runner-up, John Butcher, G3LAS, scored 268 on HF and 51 on 6m. It is interesting to note that between them, Don and John worked 275 of the 287 DXCC entities believed to have been active during the course of the year. Full results are on the CDXC website.

The prize will be presented by David Wilkins, G5HY, of Kenwood UK at the CDXC Annual Dinner on 16 April.
