Ofcom radio reform degrades maritime safety

The UK has quite a coastline....

Please consider the impact on public and maritime safety of
the recently launched Ofcom Maritime/Boat Licencing Reform which may wipe out essential data for Search and Rescue.

The Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society (CARS) has a campaign on the internet at:
http://www.g0mwt.free-online.co.uk/ofcomfold/shipsfold/ships.htm

Make sure you read the Maritime/Coastguard Agency document reproduced on the CARS Site whch they issued last year. The Source URL is
http://www.mcga.gov.uk/c4mca/mractc_1_04__srl_brief.doc

The Maritime Agency is concerned on Search and Rescue (SAR) etc, yet Ofcom's preferred option now ignores their wishes!

Replies to Ofcom must be by May-3rd.
There is a preformatted reply sheet on the CARS g0mwt webpage above
