IARU Amateur Radio Direction Finding World
Championships
News from Dale Hunt, WB6BYU,
ARDF Coordinator, IARU Region 2
For those who are interested in Amateur Radio Direction-
Finding, may I remind you of the IARU World Championships
in ARDF will be held 12 - 17 September in Bulgaria, hosted
by the BFRA. More information is available on their web
site at http://www.bfra.org
or http://bfra.mtt.bg
Letters of intent to participate are due by 10 March in order for the
BFRA to reserve hotel rooms, and to receiver further announcements. (The
ARDF Championships will be held at a resort on the Black Sea coast that
is very popular.)
The organizers will do their best to accomodate late registrations, but
they can not guarantee it. An informal email to Panayot Danev LZ1US (panayotdanev@yahoo.com)
will help if you are interested, even if you are not sure that you will
be able to attend.
Panayot was very happy to be able to demonstrate ARDF
at the 2005 Region 2 Conference, and he has arranged
for a special reduced fee for members of IARU societies
attending the ARDF World Championships for the first time.
ARDF is a sport that consists of finding up to 5 radio transmitters (2m
and 80m are used) in a large forest.
A typical course length is 6 to 10km, with shorter courses for those of
us over 40 years old.
For more information, please see our website at
http://www.ardf-r2.org, or feel free
to contact me directly. (The web site is in multiple languages. Please
accept my appologies for the poor translations on some of the web pages.)
I can also help provide direction-finding receivers and other assistance.
The European Championships in High-Speed Telegraphy will
be held immediately following the ARDF Championships,
and visitors from Region 2 are welcome to stay for that.
