What a flea market!!
Do you want to potter in the flea market ? The Dayton version stretches
for acres upon acres with over 2500 stalls, offering everything from a
vintage radio set to ex-military electronic gear. Boxes of filters, vast
amounts of ham computer software, more books than you ever knew existed.
The show itself
Do you want to see the latest Rig or hardware ? No problem You'll find
it all at Dayton, long before it makes an appearance over here. Everyone
who is anyone in the ham radio market have their new products on display
in one of the halls.
Then there's the show, where you will see the very best in amateur radio
& computer gear. From all over the world companies, like Icom Kenwood
Yaesu and a host of international business - Kenwood for instance are
always there in force.
The Town & Shopping Malls
Then there is Dayton itself, Small town America at its best Shopping ?.
There are Two huge malls, offering everything imaginable (one more mall
near to our Hotel). all at prices of a dollar to a pound or less. Food
you can live like a lord for the equivalent of a meal in Britain or less,
you should see the steak's and burgers.
What's that, simply the biggest aviation museum in the world. Where else
can you see parts of the moon landing module B36, and B47 - and just about
every flying aircraft to have carried stars and stripes. Some people spend
a week there.
You'll never forget your week in Dayton.

THE ITINERARY
2006 DAYTON HAMFEST TRIP
Below is the itinerary for the 2006 Dayton Hamvention, should you be interested.
Despite 9/11 we have managed to keep the prices DOWN DISPITE A £60
FUEL SURCHARGE. We have a limited amount of rooms in Dayton on a first
come first served basis. Please ring me first before sending
in booking forms
Wednesday 17th May 2006
We leave Gatwick Airport on Wednesday 14th May at 11.15 am on a Delta
Airlines DL37 to Cincinnati Kentucky arrive 2.45 pm. We will clear customs
and immigration in Cincinnati and pick up our rented car and travel 60
miles to , Dayton Ohio, and on to Our Hotel arriving about 4.30 pm.
Thursday 18th May 2006.
Free Day. We pick up our Hamfest tickets, Go to the Air Force Museum and
Dayton main shopping mall.
Friday 19th May 2006.
After our breakfast at the nearby diner, we will travel by car to the
Dayton Hara Arena & Exhibition Center, for the Hamvention.
Saturday 20th May 2006.
As Friday.
Sunday 21st May 2006.
As Friday and Saturday.
Monday 22nd 2006.
We will travel to Cincinnati airport for a evening flight, drop the car
off and then check in. on Delta Airlines and arrive at Gatwick 08:20 next
morning.
For those wishing to extend their holiday, arrangement and price alteration
can be made at the time of booking.
Very close to our hotel there are several eating places and a good watering
hole.
This is the 15th trip to Dayton, and is again run by Ernie
G4LUE, on behalf of the South Yorkshire Repeater Group.
This year the trip is for 5 nights bed and breakfast, we have looked at
all air fares against last year's and again, Delta offers the best.
The cost is £925 based on 2 sharing a room with separate beds.
For a single room the cost is £1095
This includes return scheduled flights from Gatwick to Cincinnati (on-
board meals and non alcoholic refreshment are included). Five nights in
our Hotel. Airport transfers in Dayton. Airport taxes, UK airport tax,
and shared car hire for the Duration.
Not included in these prices, are transport to and from Gatwick Airport,
all meals, health insurance, personal expenses, drinks, laundry, entry
into the Hamfest, and fuel for the hire of the car.
Should you wish to extend your holiday this can be arranged at the time
of booking.
Please ensure that you carry adequate travel insurance for your needs.
