Report on the Winter Transmission from SAQ on VLF

The first transmission, at 09:00 UTC was unfortunately interrupted because of a contrary tape-recorder and after a silent period between 09:01 and about 09:06 the message was sent by hand and also the "VVV DE SAQ" slip up to 09:30.

The second transmission, at 13:00 UTC, worked out well and was keyed by means of a PC/tape-recorder in a speed of 10 WPM.

Twenty-one reports were received from USA. Five of these did not receive any signal of SAQ.

The signal in USA was obviously very weak this time and not better than the ordinary summer transmission. Signals were mostly received on the East Coast and far most westerly stations were at Ohio. Not one in Vermont, Illinois or Utah this time and definitely not in California, as in the transmission from July 3rd in 2005.

New countries this year were Russia, Hungary and Romania. Welcome.

Thank you all for your effort.

Next planned transmission will take place on Alexander Day, Sunday July 2nd 2006. If there will be transmissions earlier, I will let the SAQ-group know via e-mail.

Yours

Lars Kalland (Kålland) SM6NM
