Introduction to microwavesThe UK Microwave Group is hosting a workshop in Sheffield on 27 May 2006. The event will provide an introduction to the amateur microwave bands and is aimed at newcomers to microwave, not those already experienced in this part of the spectrum. According to Peter Day, G3PHO, who is organising the workshop: “If you are interested in trying out the microwave bands but so far haven’t done so, then this workshop is for you.” In addition to introducing the microwave bands, the Microwave Group’s programme of workshops will also explain how to build a simple 10GHz transceiver, present a talk and demonstration on microwave antennas and advise on how to make contacts on more than one amateur microwave band. If you are interested in attending the introductory workshop on 27 May, it is vital that you register beforehand because the audience will be limited to 20 people. To register or to obtain further details, contact Peter Day at telephone number 0114 2816701 or e-mail microwaves@<no spam>blueyonder.co.uk.
