Special Event Station GB4HMDDafydd Williams, GW4WLZ, along with several members of the Dragon ARC on Anglesey, will be running a special event station in April. The station will be operating from the actual house in Holyhead where Marconi successfully established the first ship to shore communications with the steam vessel 'Lake Champlain'. The special event station will be on the air on Saturday, the 22nd of April, using the callsign GB4HMD. Expect activity to commence at 0830hrs and run until 1700 hrs. The house itself is now privately owned, however the present owner kindly allows the club to erect an antenna and transmit from his conservatory. So, keep a listen out for GB4HMD, transmitting from this old, historic Marconi transmitting station. 73s, |
