NZART action on Waikato District Plan

One of the many issues that the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters (NZART) is dealing with at present is the Proposed Waikato District Plan: Submission 167 – Aerials.

NZART’s Local Government Liaison Officer, Mike Newman, ZL1BNB has prepared a response to the proposed plan. Mike is now seeking a wider response from members of NZART about this important issue.

The letter states "You (the Waikato District Council) have asked whether a standard aerial design exists which might be referred to in your district plan as an "acceptable solution." And further Mike states: "Any planning rules must give reasonable consideration to the needs of the amateur radio service. The proposed rules do not show such consideration has, so far, been given, and in short, will act as an severe impediment to amateur radio operations and future recruitment"

In order for additional feedback from members, the contents of the letter from Mike to the Waikato District Council will be made available on the NZART Website at www.nzart.org.nz/nzart/index.html

All comments will need to be addressed to Mike Newman at localgovt@nzart.org.nz

While some debate may take place in other forums on this matter such as the many NZART Sponsored Email Reflectors,
it is important to note that all comments, submissions and the like must be directed to above NZART email address so they can be collated, and used in any future submissions.
