RTVE to scrap 4500 jobs: El MundoAccording to a report in El Mundo, based on a leaked document, Spanish public broadcaster RTVE is to announce the scrapping of 4,500 jobs - about half of its current workforce. The most controversial part of the plan is the the closure of Radio Nacional's Catalan service, Radio 4. The plan also calls for the closure of RTVE's television service in the Canary Islands. Most of the other cuts will affect RTVE's regional services in other parts of Spain. RTVE is heavily in debt and its audiences are declining. Source: Media Network
