Dutch Public Broadcasting to start P2P trial

Dutch Public Broadcasting is to start trials of a peer-to-peer (P2P) download service of selected TV programmes using the new Dutch P2P software Tribler.

The software was jointly developed by teams from the Delft University of Technology, the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, and the University of Twente.

The service will be free and 100% legal, as rights to all the programmes to be offered via the service have been purchased, according to William Valkenburg, Content Manager for Public Broadcasting.
