On
the Road with PW
Practical Wireless editor Rob Mannion G3XFD always
enjoys meeting readers of Practical Wireless, and often tours the country
visiting amateur radio clubs throughout the United Kingdom
The historic city of Oxford may well be the home of one of Britain's
two great seats of learning, but it's also the place for radio amateurs
to be this Monday evening.
While Professors and students alike may abound in most parts of this
great city, amateur radio enthusiasts will be gathering in just one part
- the north side. For this is the venue of the Oxford
and District Amateur Radio Club, and meeting place of the
city's radio aficionados.
They'll be gathering there on Monday 26th March to welcome their special
guest for the evening, Practical Wireless Editor, Rob Mannion,
G3XFD, who'll be dropping-in to meet the Club's members
and give a talk. Should you decide to pop along
too, you'll be assured of an equally warm welcome!
(Please note: This visit was originally scheduled for
February, but was cancelled due to the heavy snowfalls at the time)
This very active radio club meets twice a month. The venue for Thursday's
meeting is the Gosford Hill School Lecture Hall, Oxford Road,
Kidlington, OX5 2NT
Please Note 7.00pm for a 7:30 start
You'll find a map and directions on the school's website
http://www.gosford-hill.oxon.sch.uk/ourschool/where/index.php
As ever, Rob will have his amateur radio gear in the car for the journey
to Oxford from his QTH in Dorset, so listen-out for G3XFD/M during the
afternoon on either 70 or 144MHz.
