Google mapping comes to the SARL website

You thought looking up call signs is boring. Not so, says Richard Seddon, ZS2CLI.

The South African Radio League's on-line call book now includes interactive Google Maps.

With these maps, visitors can see an aerial photo with major street names of the area where you live. All that is needed is that your Maidenhead Locator be captured against your call sign.

If Maidenhead location is not fine enough to your liking, you can also drag the marker onto the roof of your house. This will automatically save your exact Latitude and Longitude as well as update your Maidenhead locator if it has changed.

But that is not all. You can now also get the SARL call book on your cell phone. Search for call signs in the online SARL call book with your GPRS enabled cell phone.
