Ofcom 1.4 GHz auction generates comment

Ofcom's auction of spectrum at 1.4 GHz appears to be generating some comment.

In an article on TheRegister.co.uk Bill Ray has written an article concerning the sale by Ofcom of L-Band spectrum which says:

"UK regulator Ofcom has mapped out the details of the upcoming "L Band" auctions, deciding against holding onto any spectrum for Brussels despite the commission's continuing enthusiasm for Europe-wide allocations."

and

"If the EU wants to reserve a chunk of that, it's going to have to move quickly, otherwise Ofcom will have sold it off before the EU picks a frequency, let alone gets it mandated across the region."

The full article can be read at

The EU Commission has been pushing for sometime for a Europe wide spectrum regulator so it is not suprising that national administrations should seek to make as much money out of spectrum sales as they can before the spectrum falls under the control of Brussels.
