Amateur Radio in The Times of India

The Times of India newspaper reports on digital HAMSAT centers being set up in Kolkata and Barasat to assist in emergency communications.

They say "If conventional communication networks fail when nature unleashes her fury in the form of Aila-like cyclones, extensive floods and earthquakes, governments can execute rescue and relief operations through satellite-based low-cost HAM radios."
