Smart vehicles on intelligent roads

One day vehicles could communicate with each other using 5.9 GHz and the future is being shown in Amsterdam from March 24-26.

As part of the conference 'Smart vehicles on intelligent roads' a wide range of cooperative mobility applications are being demonstrated on the public highways leading from Amsterdam RAI to Schiphol Airport, on the airport’s own road network and in a dedicated safety demonstration area. These are showing vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure technologies using 5.9 GHz and 3G cellular radio.

In addition, a fully operational “cooperative traffic centre of the future” has been set up to visualize the demonstrations that go on outdoors, and to show the migration from existing systems to future applications.
