Say 'thanks' for Gerritsen jailing

Jack Gerritsen, 68, of Bell, California, aka "Jammer Jack",
is once again safely behind bars.

This is the man who was convicted five years ago of interfering with police radio transmissions and was widely suspected of disrupting broadcast RPUs.

As soon as Jack was released from prison last time around,
he appeared to go right back to his jamming habits, and focused on disrupting ham radio communications and other frequencies as well.

Jack was arrested last week on Cinco de Mayo (May 5, 2005 or "5/5/5"), this time on federal charges of "jamming" radio
frequencies being used by the United States military, the United States Coast Guard, and other law enforcement and public safety agencies. Broadcasters, ham radio operators and others now have another reason to remember Cinco de Mayo, assuming the federal charges stick.

If you feel like sending a Thank You note to someone,
here's who: cdeaton@fcc.gov.

If nothing else, just say "Thank You re: Gerritsen Case" in the subject line.

Let's let Catherine Deaton know we appreciate the hard work of her office.
