Icom (UK) Ltd announce Official Supplier Status to the Honda Formula 4-Stroke Race Series

Radio communication company, Icom UK is pleased to announce that it is the official radio communication supplier to the Honda Formula 4-Stroke race series championship this year.

The championship is one of the most exciting offshore powerboat series in the world. Thirty-five boats race along courses of approximately 3 miles reaching speeds of 70mph. The series begins in May and runs until September.

To show its support to the series, Icom (UK) Ltd has supplied 10 IC-M1Euro V, waterproof VHF handheld radios to its organisers, Honda Formula 4-Stroke. The radios will be used by the race officials for communications between the safety boats and safety officials. Rory Power, Events Co-ordinator said, “It is crucial for us to use the best quality equipment. The radios are vitally important to the organisation and safety of the event.

Race organiser, Steve Curtis has plenty of experience when it comes to racing, being six-time Class-1 World Powerboat champion. When asked about Icom’s sponsorship he said, “We are all very pleased to be working with Icom as it is such a high quality brand. It is important for the series to be in partnership with strong brands as it adds credence to the whole series”.

He went on to say “This is going to be the biggest and best year yet for Honda Formula 4-Stroke. We are more organised and professional than ever. It is going to be a fantastic spectacle with TV coverage by Channel 4. This year we will be racing round the Isle of Man for the first time ever and have signed an additional 3 years with Largs in Scotland so you can see we are continuously growing. The social events around the races are all fully booked as are the hotels at the venues. This is the way racing should be!”
