Ofcom's MORI poll

As I understand it, the object of the
MORI Poll is to provide Ofcom with
ammunition to use against the RSGB. Ofcom are opposed to proposals for a £50 five year licence and do not believe that what the RSGB has been saying to them over the last few months represents the views of Amateurs.

It is not necessary for the respondents to have read the consultation paper before answering the questionnaire as the questions are self contained. The important point is Ofcom wanted to get in quickly before the RSGB has time to put anything in print about the consultation. They reasoned correctly that Amateurs will, by and large, support what the National Society says and this would not give Ofcom the answer they wanted.

I don't know how MORI will be doing the Age/Gender profile when selecting people for this questionaire. Are they using the Age/Gender distribution of the general UK population as the basis or perhaps just picking 1000 call signs at random? I only know of two recipients of the Poll and both women had been licenced within the last 3 years.

I wonder if other recipients are also recently licenced?
Does anyone have any info ?

Please click here (and then on 'Post Reply') and let us know if you've received a Mori Opinion Poll questionnaire yet - especially if you are recently licenced.
