Prasar Bharati plans 24-hr Malayalam radio channel

The Prasar Bharati Corporation (parent organisation of All India Radio) will launch a new 24-hour Malayalam radio channel through its direct-to-home (DTH) service by the end of this month.

This was announced yesterday by Prasar Bharati Corporation chief executive officer K S Sarma at the inauguration of a marketing division office in Thiruvananthapuran.

Mr Sarma said that the new channel will broadcast Malayalam music, drama and feature programmes.

In addition, he promised that the Prasar Bharati will make special efforts to translate select Malayalam classics to the other languages and broadcast it through its national channel.
