Special Event News from the RSGB

Special event station SP0TPFK will be on air from 1 to 31 May to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Lviv Shortwave Club (LKK), one of the first radio amateur clubs in Europe .

Look for EI60LRC to be aired on 10-80m until the end of the year to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Limerick Radio Club. QSL via EI8EM.

The Spanish Union de Radio Amateurs will commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death in 1506 of explorer Christopher Columbus on 20-21 May using the callsign EG7CC. Activity will be on HF on 80m, 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m.

The Radio Society of Harrow will air special event station GB2HM from the Harrow Museum and Heritage Centre in Pinner View, Harrow on Monday 1 May 2006 to mark May Day and the 500th anniversary of the building of the Tithe Barn at the museum. GB2HM will be on 40m from 0930 to 1500UTC.

Trowbridge & District Amateur Radio Club will be on-air using the callsign GB1WW from the Wilton Windmill – the only working windmill in Wessex - between 1200 and 1700UTC on Sunday 14 May. Activity will focus on the 40/80m bands and possibly 70cm/2m.

Chris, HA5X, will operate as HA50MHZ until 31 December to celebrate the long-awaited legalisation of 6m for radio amateurs in Hungary . QSL via home call.

Members of Sala Consilina amateur radio group will operate special event callsign IO8VAT until 15 May to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the foundation of Vatican Radio.

Special callsign GB0MPA will be aired by the Barry Amateur Radio Society for 28 days starting on 4 April. MPA was the callsign assigned to RMS Carpathia, the ship that in April 1912 rescued all 705 survivors from the Titanic.

Stafford & District Amateur Radio Society is operating special event callsign GB800SB from Stafford Castle on 30 April to mark the 800th anniversary of King John signing the charter that recognised the area as a borough. Operation will be on HF and VHF. Special QSL cards will be issued for this event.
