SARL President calls for Amateur Radio promotion ideas

During the President's net last Sunday, SARL President Graham Hartlett, ZS6GJH, called for ideas on how to promote amateur radio.

During the ensuing discussion it became evident that there are two target markets, the youth and the older generation.

Graham called on the amateur radio fraternity at large to put themselves in the shoes of young people and come up with ideas of what would attract them to become radio amateurs. Likewise the exercise should be carried out with older people as the target audience.

Some interesting ideas were exchanged during the net. It is now up to all radio amateurs to put their thinking caps on, talk to other people in the target market and send in their ideas.

Please mail the ideas to armi@sarl.org.za. Please do so before the end of June as the SARL council will meet soon after that for a planning teleconference to review the ideas and prepare a marketing and promotion plan. You may also fax your ideas to 088 011 675-2793.

You input will be extremely valuable.
