First details of Western Cape RTA announcedThe SARL Technology in Action road show will present an interesting day of lectures and demonstrations at the University of Stellenbosch on Saturday 13 May 2006. It will be held at the Faculty of Engineering. The programme starts with two plenary sessions with Tony Voorveld presenting a lecture demonstration entitled "The Miraculous Bell at the Villa Griffon. The demonstration will include a re-enactment of Marconi's first radio transmission using an exact replica of Marconi's original equipment. The second plenary will be presented by Warren Botton of Clearline. He will talk about practical lightning protection for both the radio amateur and home users of video and HiFi equipment, After the two plenary sessions there will be two streams of lectures covering Low Band Dxing, Towers and Legislation, Software Defined Radio, Power Line Communication; NVIS Propagation, Advantages of 9 600 Baud Packet vs 1 200 Baud and two lectures on South Africa's new satellite including details of the amateur payload. The entry fee will be R20 which includes a ticket for the attendance draw prizes. Learners and students will not be charged an entrance fee, but will not participate in the attendance prize draw.
