1785 Benjamin Franklin invents bifocal
glasses.
1819 The first bicycles in NY, USA, were called 'swift
walkers'.
1844 Morse sends his first telegraph message, "What
hath God wrought!" to his associate 40 miles away.
1844 Stuart Perry of New York City patented the gasoline
engine.
1905 Japanese navy defeats Russian navy, Tsushima. First
use of naval radiotelephony.
1916 Daylight Saving Time introduced in England.
1930 R.G.Drew, USA, patents transparent cellophane adhesive
tape.
