Regulation of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)Ofcom today published a Statement on the Wireless Telegraphy (Radio Frequency Identification Equipment) (Exemption) (Amendment) Regulations 2007. This confirms that, following a formal consultation process, Ofcom has made a new Statutory Instrument amending the 2005 Regulations regulating the use of RFID equipment in the UK. Ofcom was required to change the 2005 Regulations to comply with a Decision of the European Commission by 23 May 2007. The Amendment Regulations enter into force on 14 May 2007.
