On
the Road with PW
Practical Wireless editor Rob Mannion G3XFD always
enjoys meeting readers of Practical Wireless, and often tours the country
visiting amateur radio clubs throughout the United Kingdom
This month, Rob is more 'up-in-the-air' than 'on-the-road', as he flies
from Southampton to Scotland to pay a visit to the Strathclyde
Fire & Rescue Service Amateur Radio Club in Hamilton on Thursday
evening. The invitation to visit the club came at the request of Gordon
Hunter, GM3ULP, the RSGB Regional Manager for Region 01, and Rob readily
agreed.
The Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Sevice Amateur Radio Club was formed
some 15 years ago and, although not affiliated to the RSGB, has members
who have been in the Society for many years.
The Club has a full syllabus which is almost 100% Amateur Radio topics
and runs throughout the year. What's more, there are no yearly membership
fees either. Visitors to their meetings are always made most welcome.
Unfortunately, due to a 'double booking', Rob's visit coincides with
a major event being held at the Fire Station HQ that day, so the Club
has been forced to find alternative premises for the evening. The meeting
will therefore now take place on Thursday May 10th (7pm for 7.30pm) at:
St. Machan's Church in Larkhall, nr. Hamilton. Larkhall
is reached just off the M74.
So, if you are in the area on Thursday evening, why not pop along and
say 'hello' to Rob and the Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Service ARC members.
You're assured of a warm (no pun intended) welcome.
