D-STAR repeater GB7YD2 metre D-STAR repeater GB7YD (C) is operational on 2 metres, sharing 145.675MHz (RV54) with the FM repeater, GB3NA. In a report on the UK D-STAR list http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dstar-uk/ Darren G7LWT provides the following information: With a little help from technical friends, GB7YD and GB3NA have now been been reconfigured to share the same cavities and antenna system. The hybrid configuration provides amateurs in Yorkshire the opportunity to quickly compare DV and FM propagation modes from the same site. By default D-Star users have priority access but thanks to G1DVA's rapid implementation of a UK Interconnect Team design, analogue/DV priorities can now be set remotely, via the Icom G2 D-Star gateway server. In a future update of the Remote Node Controller (RNC) software, there will be the ability to command the switching priorities, over the air, securely via a D-star radio; speech and text command acknowledgements will be sent back from the G2 gateway server. The RNC system is also designed to monitor local inputs such as intruder alert and battery-working, alarms can then be raised via e-mail and announcements can be made over the air. Analogue users of "Nasty Albert" (GB3NA) are advised to engage CTCSS decode (71.9Hz), as well as encode, so as to avoid listening to raw GMSK transmissions when D-Star QSOs are in progress. DV users should configure their radios as follows: This configuration will ensure that International G2 gateway access can be enjoyed and that D-GPS data fill be propagated to the APRS network if GPS-A mode is engaged. NB. Gateway users must be pre-registered on the G2 network.
