UK MoD publishes plans for spectrum reform

On Friday 30th May the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) published a consultation on spectrum reform.

An announcement from the UK regulator Ofcom says:

"In January 2008 following a public consultation, Ofcom announced plans that would allow Government departments, their executive agencies and certain other public bodies to trade radio spectrum This was in support of the Government's plans, which Ofcom backs, to reform public sector spectrum management."

"Today, the MoD published a consultation on reforming how it will manage its spectrum use more effectively and its plans to release and share spectrum."

The consultation document says:

"The MOD hopes that its current good working relationship with the RSGB will continue into the future through any potential changes in spectrum usage."

The Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) will be submitting a response to this consultation on behalf of UK Radio Amateurs.
