New regulations for Amateur Radio communications in Portugal

The approval was given by ICP-ANACOM to the procedures governing the amateur and amateur satellite services, as set out by Decree Law n.º 53/2009, March the 2nd, relative to Regulations for Amateur Radiocommunications in Portugal (ruling from June the 1st, 2009 on).

While establishing a communication, the amateur must observe the following procedures:

a) Identifying the station's call sign (CS) in the beginning and also at the end of any call (transmission);

b) When using a transceiver from a non-proprietary station, the amateur must identify the signal according to a), using the operated station's call sign, followed by his own station's call sign;

c) If the station in use is a mobile one, the amateur must identify the transmission with the station's call sign, followed by the word "mobile", right after, and point the present location of the station under operation.

In alternative to the word "mobile" the symbols "/M" can be used in addition to the station's call sign.

d) If the station is a portable one, the amateur must identify the transmission with the station's call sign, followed by the word "portable", right after, and point the present location of the station under operation.

In alternative to the word "portable" the symbols "/P" can be used in addition to the station's call sign.

Anytime a foreign amateur establish communications within the Portuguese territory under a "CEPT" license, the original station's call sign must be preceded by the prefix:

a) "CT7" if the operated station is located anywhere inside mainland PORTUGAL borders;

b) "CT8" if the operated station is located in one of the AZORES archipelago Islands;

c) "CT9" if the operated station is located in one of the MADEIRA archipelago Islands.

Anytime a foreign amateur establish communications within the Portuguese territory under a "CEPT novice" license, the original station's call sign must be preceded by the prefix:

a) "CS7" if the operated station is located anywhere inside mainland PORTUGAL borders;

b) "CS8" if the operated station is located in one of the AZORES archipelago Islands;

c) "CS9" if the operated station is located in one of the MADEIRA archipelago Islands.
