Thames Estuary interference on 433.500 MHz

The website of Dave Speechley G4UVJ has a good description about a problem of severe interference to the Amateur Radio 433 MHz allocation in the Thames estuary area from license exempt short range devices.

The report, by Norman Crampton M0FZW, starts in November 2008 when he first noticed the interference and continues until March 2009 when the problem was resolved.

When he initially found the problem he reported it to the UK regulator Ofcom and made sure he got the all important Complaint Reference number which meant the complaint had been formally logged in Ofcoms system.

Norman had this to say about the Ofcom staff he dealt with:

"In closing, I have to say that throughout this entire investigation the exchanges between Ofcom, myself and those Amateurs and their assistants in the above account, have been one of cordial cooperation. All involved have worked together, freely sharing their skills and knowledge for the common cause. I thank them all and look forward to working with them again, should the need arise."
