Over the weekend of 15th to 17th May, members of the Worcester Radio Amateurs Association and members of the Vintage Military Amateur Radio Society are teaming up for a special weekend camp just outside the Worcester City boundary. The camp location is Breach Farm, Stoulton, Worcestershire. WR7 4QW. The weekend camp is a combination of antenna testing, operating vintage military radio equipment and portable operation practice. This year, members of the WRAA will also be active during the RSGB 2m contest. Many members of both groups have a wide ranging interest in anything wireless and military, so there will be much to be learnt from the camp. Every year the members of VMARS run a theme, and this year the theme is portable and mobile operation. So, much of the equipment will follow that theme, including we suspect the antenna systems. This year see's the camp taking place at a new location around 1/2 mile from the original spot, this is to cater for more vehicles, operators, visitors and most importantly the huge towers that will be on site. There will be several military vehicles at the camp for the duration of the weekend, all kitted out and on the air. Members of the WRAA will also be operating on HF and 2m through the weekend using the two 100 foot portable towers which were recently acquired. Plans are afoot to loft some large wire arrays. All are welcome to come along and pay us a visit, but if you were thinking about bringing your own military vehicle, or perhaps camping over then please contact us as space is a premium. Anyone interested in coming along can find more information by emailing info@wraa.co.uk Keep a watchful eye on the WRAA website in case of last minute changes due to weather www.wraa.co.uk
