How secure are Powerline Networking devices ?

The radio pollution caused by Powerline Adaptors (PLA) is well documented, now concerns are being raised about the security of these devices.

Nige G7CNF has produced a video showing a major security flaw with home networking devices that transfer data across the electricity mains.

The YouTube description reads:

In all the sales and marketing literature, powerline adapter manufacturers always refer to how secure powerline is, that the signal cannot get past the electricity meter which effectively blocks it.

This is a lie and this video demonstrates a connection over powerline between two adjacent houses. This brings into question just how secure they really are and also for IT professionals, what the effects of packet collision might be between installations..
