10th anniversary of SI9AM

The 10th anniversary of the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Amateur Radio Society station SI9AM takes place on July 24

King Chulalongkorn of Siam (now Thailand) visited Utanede in Sweden in 1897 and nearly a century later the Thai Pavilion was built.

The Amateur Radio station SI9AM was established at the site in 2000 and the first contact it made was with the Radio Amateur Society of Thailand (RAST) club station HS0AC.

A good relationship has continued between RAST and SI9AM, with contacts being made between HS0AC and SI9AM during visits by senior Thai officials to the station.

The RAST President Chaiyong HS1QVD has given a commemorative plaque to Svante "Sam" HS0ZDY/SM3DYU who will take it to Sweden and present it to the SI9AM Council, led by President Lars Aronsson SM3CVM.
