US Technology Export ControlsUS Federal Government ITAR regulations present significant problems for Radio Amateurs and many others. An IEEE article highlights calls for reform of these regulations. Existing ITAR regulations have prevented Radio Amateurs in the USA collaborating with others on joint Amateur satellite projects. The penalties can be severe, six figure fines or jail terms. The regulations adversely affect what US companies can sell outside their home market, even products such as solar panels can fall under ITAR.
