Fire causes transmitter mast collapse

There has been a major fire at Crown Castle's Peterborough transmitting site in Cambridgeshire.

This resulted in a total collapse of the 153m mast at around 2300 BST on Saturday 30 October. The mast apparently collapsed on the transmitter buildings and adjacent fields.

There are no reports of any casualties and the cause of the fire is not yet known.

Peterborough transmits local and national radio services on VHF/FM & DAB Digital Radio to the whole of Cambridgeshire and neighbouring parts of the East Midlands.
