SARL IARU fund gets a boostThe South African Amateur Radio Development Trust gave the SARL IARU Fund a major boost this week with a donation of R5000. The total amount raised including the carry over from last year now stand
at R8770, still R3,230 short of the R12,000 required to pay for this year's
IARU membership. On Thursday the Trustees recognised the contributions of Marten du Preez, ZS6ZY, Robyn Seal, ZS5MRS, Willem Weideman, ZS6WWJ and M J Roughead, ZR5Z, and thanked them for their support to keep Amateur Radio in South Africa internationally involved. The Chairman of the Trust, Dave Larsen, ZS6DN, said that South African Radio Amateurs should not underestimate the valuable work the IARU is doing in protecting and expanding the amateur radio frequency allocation in face of every increasing competition from commercial interests. "We have to raise the R3,230 shortfall this week so that the SARL can remain on the International scene", he said. Donations to the SARL IARU fund can be made by electronic transfer to the SA Amateur Radio Development Trust account at ABSA Menlyn Branch. The account number is 560 142 722 and the branch code is 335 645. Please fax the deposit slip or a note of your donation to 012 991 5651 or Email the details to saardt@intekom.co.za.
