VK2 moving ahead

Recently the Division conducted an Extraordinary General Meeting where it was decided that the division should sign an implementation agreement with the National WIA.

The result was very decisive.

The secretary has forwarded VK2 division's proposal to WIA National. The division has not discussed the changes with the National WIA and it is not known at this stage if they will be accepted. Members will be kept informed as to the outcome.

As members, it is very important to consider a number of realities:

Amateur Radio is seriously under threat from emerging technologies, especially Broadband over Power Line (BPL).
There appears to be a general decline in the membership of clubs and associations for a large number of hobbies and interests.
There also appears to be a general decline in interest for electronics hobbies and therefore the industry.

A reality is this: The National WIA is now the way forward,
and the division of VK2 is firmly committed to joining with the National organisation in a productive, cooperative and symbiotic relationship.

A number of members have made statements as to the endangerment of assets controlled by that division. The assets and rental incomes are not in danger. They are still under the control of WIA NSW now and for the foreseeable future.

Perhaps now we should turn our thoughts to considering how some of those assets can be used for the benefit of Amateur Radio as a whole.
