WIA Board adopts criteria for Affiliated ClubsThe WIA Board has now adopted the criteria for a club to be able to become an Affiliated Club of the WIA. This follows visits to many clubs by the President and other directors seeking their suggestions as to what approach should be taken. The Board sought a flexible solution, balancing the importance of not
adopting rules that created a barrier to clubs becoming affiliated against
the importance of encouraging as many club members as possible to also
be Except in the case of a radio club in a school, college or university the Board would like to see at least 25% of all radio club members who hold amateur licences (not counting full time students) to also be WIA members. However, any club that was affiliated with a Division at the time of the adoption of the new national Constitution will also be entitled to be an Affiliated Club, though it is expected to have or to do its best to achieve the same 25% WIA membership. The Board is, however, given a very broad discretion to admit any club as an Affiliated Club if it considers that will advance the interests of the WIA. The Board expects that it will be announcing very soon attractive liability insurance for Affiliated Clubs, and will be writing to all clubs inviting them to become an Affiliated Club and providing insurance details. The full Affiliated Club Regulation are available on the WIA webpages via the clubs link on the home page, www.wia.org.au
