First Announcement
The Organizing Committee cordially invites you to take part in the First
International Meeting on Space Education (UNIVERSAT-2006) which will be
held in Moscow, Russian Federation, on June 12-16, 2006 at the Lomonosov
Moscow

The conference will be hosted by Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics.
Objectives of the Conference
The First International Meeting on Space Education UNIVERSAT-2006 will
cover a wide variety of topics centered around the theme “University
Satellites and Space Science Education”, and is meant to inform
the entire university and space-interested community on the new initiatives
in space science education and students satellites construction and development.
We hope to be able to provide an overview of the state of the art at the
beginning of the new century and, to this end, a number of the key topics
have been identified.
These will be discussed in successive half-day sessions in invited reviews
and contributions, selected by the SPC and the conveners. In order to
allow the participants to follow all presentations, there will be no parallel
sessions.

CALL FOR PAPERS:
The conference will consist of invited reviews, invited contributions
and poster papers. Final selection (as an invited oral contribution or
as a poster) is the responsibility of the SPC, who will decide on the
basis of the submitted abstract and your preferences. You are invited
to submit contributions in the whole area of space education, including
space sciences and technology applications. The book of abstracts will
be distributed to the conference participants upon arrival. The proceedings
of the meeting will be published. Instructions for preparing the camera-ready
papers will be given in the Final Announcement.
Deadline for the abstract submission is March, 1, 2006. For those who
apply for financial support for the registration fee the deadline is February,
1, 2006. Authors will be notified on the acceptance of their papers as
oral or poster before April, 1, 2006.
LANGUAGE:
English and Russian will be the official languages of the conference Translation
services from Russian to English will be available.

ACCOMMODATION and CLIMATE:
Accommodation will be available on-site and in a range of hotels and student
hostels. Weather in Moscow in June is usually pleasant: the temperature
varies between 20 and 30 C Nights are cooler; rain, if any, should not
last long. You are advised to bring light casual clothes, and a sweater
or jacket for the evenings outdoors.
VISA:
Most of UNIVERSAT-2006 participants will need a visa to enter the Russian
Federation. Please contact Russian Embassy or Consulate well in advance
of the Conference dates. The LOC will send the Official Invitation Letters
(the only document providing the possibility to apply for visa) to those
participants who indicate the necessity for it in their registration.
Please take into account that LOC needs about 2 months to provide this
Official Invitation Letter. For those who need the invitation letters
confirming their participation in the UNIVERSAT-2006 meeting for other
purposes (like funding or booking) the letters of such kind will be easily
issued on the request.
