ARRL International Humanitarian Award

A reminder that the ARRL is inviting nominations for its International Humanitarian Award.

The annual prize is given to an amateur or amateur group that has gone to extraordinary lengths to promote human welfare, peace and international understanding through amateur radio.

The award is open to radio amateurs from anywhere in the world. Last year’s winner was a group of Indian hams who used amateur radio to help coordinate rescue efforts following the December 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

Nominations for the prize must include an explanation of why the person deserves to be considered for the award. There must also be supporting evidence from at least two individuals who have first-hand knowledge of the events warranting the nomination.

Nominations and supporting material should be submitted in writing in English to ARRL International Humanitarian Award, 225 Main St, Newington, CT 06111, USA by the deadline of 31 December 2006.

The winner – who will be chosen by the ARRL board of directors – will receive an engraved plaque. He or she will also be profiled in the ARRL’s QST magazine.
