On
the Road with PW
Practical Wireless editor Rob Mannion G3XFD always
enjoys meeting readers of Practical Wireless, and often tours the country
visiting amateur radio clubs throughout the United Kingdom
It's been a busy few weeks at the Practical Wireless offices and unfortunately,
due to the pressure of work, Rob has been forced to postpone his planned
visit to the Andover club in Hampshire, which was to have taken place
on the 21st of this month. However, he has now rescheduled his visit
and hopes to be there in December.
This Thursday, the 23rd of November, sees the start of a very busy week
for Rob. He'll be up very early in the morning in order to catch the 6am
ferry from Pembroke Dock, Wales to Ireland (via Rosslaire and Waterford).
On his first evening there, Rob is looking forward to an informal meeting
with members of the South
Eastern Amateur Radio Group (SEARG), who will be joining him at his
hotel for a pint or two..
On Friday, Rob will be donning his EI5IW callsign
once again, whilst travelling to meet-up with friends and family in Middleton,
County Cork.
Then, still proudly sporting his EI callsign, he heads-off
to Westport, County Mayo, where on Saturday, visitors to the
Mayo Rally, (organised by the Mayo Radio Experimenters Network) will
be able to say 'hello' to Rob in person, as he pays a visit to the show.
After staying with friends for a few days, it's back home to England,
catching the overnight ferry Wednesday / Thursday night, and finally returning
home that afternoon.
During his travels across the country, Irish radio hams should be able
to work Rob on either 70 or 144MHz. Just listen-out for the callsign
EI5IW.
Rob is hoping to meet many friends and work lots of people on the air
during his time in Ireland.
