Radio 4’s Today programme Morse Code & SOS Signal AnniversaryThe RSGB’s Carlos Eavis, G0AKI, appeared on Radio 4’s Today programme on Friday 3 November. He was on the show to talk about Morse and the 100th anniversary of the first SOS call. He treated Radio 4 listeners to a demonstration of Morse code. Listeners were challenged to decipher a Morse message sent out by Carlos. The first person to contact the show with the correct translation was Chris Fox, an ex commercial operator. The next was Tom Roskilly, G3ZRJ. When he is not appearing on Radio 4, Carlos is responsible for the RSGB’s GB4FUN demonstration vehicle, which tours the country teaching school children about amateur radio and science. A recording of Carlos appearing on the Today programme can be found on the web at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/listenagain/ Or, go direct to the sound file by clicking here (requires RealPlayer)
