Columbus module and the Amateur Radio antennas

A new NASA picture of the Columbus module clearly shows the two Amateur Radio antennas for 1260/2400 MHz.

This picture of Columbus was taken just as it was being loaded into the Shuttle payload bay.

If you click on the "L" version of the picture you can see the two patch antennas near the top of the picture on panels COL/01-0 and COL/02-07.

The new antennas will allow ATV operation from the Space Station.

As part of the fund raising during the development of the antennas AMSAT-UK made two substantial donations to the project totally over 19000 Euros. A significant donation was also received from the RSGB which was most welcome.

Not all the funding required for the project has been achieved and further donations are welcome, see http://www.ariss-eu.org/donations.htm
