SOS Radio Week 2008 -
come and help us raise money for the RNLI
The 2008 RNLI SOS day takes place on Friday 25 January.
Radio Amateurs are running SOS Radio Week to raise money for the RNLI.
The RNLI's SOS Day (http://www.rnli.org.uk/sos)
is an annual event fund-raising event held on the last Friday in January.
On SOS Day, people raise money for this most worthy of charities by organising
sponsorship events, doing crazy things for sponsorship, or doing something
simple like dressing down for a £1 on the day.
SOS Radio Week will start at 00:00 UTC on Saturday 19th January, 2007,
and conclude at 23:59 UTC on the evening of SOS Day itself, the 25th January.
Last year a group of Radio Amateurs from around the UK got together and
got themselves sponsored for the number of contacts they made in the week
leading up to SOS Day and raised over £400. SOS Radio Week was born.
This year we'd like to raise lots more money and with your help we can.
To find out more about SOS Radio Week and how you can take part, please
visit our site at http://www.sadarc.org.uk/rnlisos
to download sponsorship forms and log sheets - there are certificates
available to all with special awards to the most contacts (group and
individual) and most money raised (group and individual).
We've also set up a group on Facebook
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6033272420
so that we can all meet up, swap plans, ask questions, discuss relevant
topics and just chill out. You are most welcome to join and we look forward
to meeting you there.
This is a great way for newly licensed Radio Amateurs to get on the air
and meet new friends, whilst supporting one of the UK and Ireland's most
respected charities.
Thank you for your help - it is most appreciated.
