UK CubeSat Research Network Launch Event

The CubeSat Research Network Launch Event held in London on Friday November 7 proved very popular and was oversubscribed.

The meeting was hosted by the Sensors & Instrumentation KTN (Space Instrumentation Group) in association with EADS Astrium.

The workshop aimed to bring together the key parties involved in the funding, development and implementation of disruptive technologies for space applications to discuss potential collaborations with the CubeSat Research Network. The CubeSat Research Network will provide a means to connect new ideas for space hardware and applications from concept to launch.

The CubeSat Research Network will facilitate the identification and selection of development proposals as well as improve the technology readiness level of particular innovative technologies.

There will also be transfer of knowledge from industry to academic institutes to students and young professionals during the actual design and build of the CubeSat satellites. This will provide 'hands on' experience for future leading U.K. engineers and scientists.

Slides of the presentations given are now available on the event website at

There are a number of groups in the United Kingdom wishing to develop Cubesats which is an encouraging sign.
