Venezuelan Radio Station and an Amateur Radio website

Radio Ham Chip N2YO has had a lot of publicity for his Satellite Tracking website from a Venezuelan Radio Station and numerous Spanish Language Blogs.

His website http://www.n2yo.com/ provides Real Time Satellite Tracking using Google Earth. It's probably best known for providing tracking information for Amateur Radio Satellites and the International Space Station but also covers Weather Satellites, GEO Satellites etc.

Venezuelas first satellite Simón Bolívar (VENESAT-1) was built and launched by Beijing and went into orbit on October 29, 2008. It appears that political sensitivities in Venezuela have resulted in the N2YO website being quoted in numerous Spanish Language Blogs as well as by Radio Mundial which operates 4 Medium Wave (AM) radio stations in Venezuela. A Google search on "satélite Simón Bolívar + N2YO" shows up hundreds of Spanish references.

The Radio Mundial N2YO story in Google English can be seen at http://tinyurl.com/5q4ljw

A BBC news item about the satellite itself can be seen at

Chip N2YO runs the website as a hobby in his spare time, however, such websites can be expensive to operate and there is a donation page at:
