IARU Global SET 2008

Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) is encouraging all Canadian Radio Amateurs involved in Emcomm operations to participate in the 2008 International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) Global Simulated Emergency Test to be held Saturday, November 8, from 0400 to 0800 UTC.

The event, sponsored by IARU Region 1, is an exercise for IARU Member Societies, including RAC, and for emergency communications groups, including the Amateur Radio Emergency Service.

Organiser Greg Mossop, G0DUB, emphasizes that the four-hour SET is not a contest.

RAC Headquarters will be represented by VE7RAC, operated by National Traffic System Coordinator Hew Lines, VA7HU.

Activity will concentrate around the IARU Emergency Centre of Activity frequencies. A list of participating stations may be found online at http://www.raynet-hf.net/
