This is ZS5POL the head–quarter amateur radio station of the Servamus/Community Police Forum/Emcom Amateur Radio Wing with it's weekly bulletin for Sunday the 29th of November 2009.

This bulletin is brought to you on the frequencies of 7090 Mhz in the 40mb and 3640 Mhz in the 80mb and on 145.550 Mhz in the 2 meter band. The electronic version by Wayne POL.00027 on 2.4 Ghz at www.servamus.co.za. (go to the discussion forum section.)

1. Regional News Bulletins can now be compiled by the Provincial Stations and broadcast by them for Servamus members. News of situations inside the Provinces and also the forwarding of situation reports and or pre warnings of disasters and other emergencies. Stations must please remember to submit the Provincial Bulletins on the Thursday before the broadcast to the head-quarters station ZS5POL. Servamus/Cpf/ Emcom Amateur Radio Wing. Provincial stations must please note that the Servamus Bulletins from the HQ goes out on Sundays on the following frequencies, 7090Mhz in the 40 meter band and 3640 Mhz in the 80 meter band and on 145.550Mhz in the 2 meter band. Stations must remember not to identify deceased people before the next of kin was informed in any news bulletin.

Does this sound familiar? It is holiday season, lets go to Durban. Can I speak to the manager.
I need to arrange a funeral because my loved one became a December statistic!!
Therefor the following message:

WE WILL HAVE A ZERO TOLERANCE ATTITUDE ON ALL THE MAIN ROUTES IN SOUTH AFRICA.

Servamus/Cpf/Emcom Amateur Radio members please use your mike to keep DEATH off our roads. We can make the difference throughout South Africa. The Road hog cannot see you, and with the press of a PTT button and Radio Report he can bite the dust.

Remember road accidents are one of the biggest killers in South Africa. Be alert and awake!!!

3. And On the Beat. Crime is the in thing around South Africa and from reports received Kwazulu/Natal and Gauteng crimes types look the same and yes in some cases the criminals were invited by the victim to join the party. Garsfontein Pretoria reported several cases of theft from motorcars, where expensive items was left unattended and in full view for the thieves inside the vehicles. Further reports was that in Pietermaritzburg a women from Hollingwood was walking alone when accosted by a male who attempted to rape her.
In Cleland 4x Malawian Nationals was arrested in the act whilst braking into a house……..this being the house of a policeman which is a member of the Motor Cycle Unit of the SAPS at Alexander Road. The Police also linked them with outstanding cases.

4. Monitor Service for the December/January Holiday season: Stations are requested to monitor the emergency frequencies on the peak days during the holiday period.. and please have the list of your local emergency services at hand in your shack. You might assist with a distress call. Also remember that an emergency call can go out on any segment of the amateur bands. Victims might not have the time to look on what frequencies he or she is when in panic or distress.. this is called a distress signal.
