Z-Wave for Home Control

Embedded-Europe reports that Nokia spin-off, There Corporation, has joined the Z-Wave Alliance which promotes a UHF home wireless control system.

The Z-Wave Alliance is an open consortium of over 160 manufacturers who create products and services based on Z-Wave, a home wireless control system that uses a mesh network operating on 868 or 900 MHz.

Applications include lighting and security control, as well as automated window treatments, garage and access controls. Z-Wave is also at the forefront of green energy conservation technologies, allowing automated meter readings and enhanced demand management.

There Corporation will be focusing on smart meter, smart grid and smart home solutions that are based on ThereGate. It opens up the prospect of monitoring and regulating the temperature, managing all home lighting systems and controlling security systems from a cellular phone.
