Appleton Lecture - What is the future for communications?Dr David Cleevely of spectrum monitoring company CRFS, will be giving a lecture 'What is the future for communications? What does this mean for the UK?' The lecture takes place on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 (6pm for 6:30pm start) at the Savoy Place, London, WC2R 0BL and is free and open to all. Online registration is at http://www.theiet.org/appleton/ Communications media and devices are proliferating at an accelerating rate. Globalisation means that innovations spread within months round the world and markets appear in a few years that previously took decades to emerge. With lower costs and economies of scale, much large scale manufacturing has moved offshore. Will other activities follow suit, with innovation in communications happening increasingly outside the UK? Dr David Cleevely is the Chairman of CRFS, the spectrum monitoring company, which he co-founded in July 2007, and the founder and former Chairman of telecoms consultancy Analysys (acquired by Datatec International in 2004). David is currently appointed by the UK government to the Spectrum Management Advisory Group and is a member of the Ofcom Spectrum Advisory Board and the IET Telecoms Sector Panel. He has also appeared before Select Committees in both Parliament and in the House of Lords.
